IWD Spotlight: Robin Miller

Since 2010, Robin Miller has been the proud steward of CooksonPeirce’s commitment to unbiased advice based on hard numbers.  As Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Financial Officer, a member of the Board of Directors and shareholder, Robin has risen through the male dominated worlds of finance and chief compliance officers.

With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Robin’s achievements are impressive and well deserved, but the road traveled was not an easy one. Beginning her career at Allegheny Investments as a file clerk, she worked her way through the ranks, until her supervisor presented her with a choice –  either stay in marketing or move into compliance.  Feeling pressure to “pick a lane”, Robin chose the route to compliance.  There were other options, but compliance resonated and since she had been taking a few college classes sporadically, decided it was time to turn up the dial; she was going all in!  Spending years in night school at Duquesne University while working full-time and then raising her son, was certainly a challenge but she knew the reward would certainly outweigh the difficulties.  In addition to school, she also took the Series 7, while pregnant, missing only one semester.  This delayed her graduation but after 19 years, Robin graduated with a B.A. in business and leadership.

After 16 years with Allegheny Investments, she ended her tenure as their Chief Compliance Officer.  From there she headed to Fort Pitt Capital for 6 years as their Chief Compliance Officer before finding her home at CooksonPeirce.  In addition to the Series 7, Robin also holds the Series 24 license with FINRA and in 2004, helped form the Greater Pittsburgh Compliance Roundtable, which meets on a quarterly basis, counting more than 60 active members.

Armed with sheer determination, commitment, and unwavering support from her biggest champion, her mother, Robin knows that what seems impossible is possible.  This message of resilience, strength, and #ChooseToChallenge is ingrained in all that she has done and all that she continues to do.   Robin resides with her son Evan, who has also embarked on a career in finance, dog Zoey and cat Ben, in the Wexford area, living her best life!
